Bees ground Ospreys 13-6

HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – The SCAD Savannah men's lacrosse team took control of the SELC Division II Southeast Division Friday (March 4) evening with their 13-6 victory over the University of North Florida at the SCAD Athletics Complex.

The Bees, who are ranked No. 13 in the Prodigy MCLA Division II Top 25 Poll, improved to 3-2 overall and to 2-0 in the five-team Southeast Division. The Ospreys fell to 2-3 and 1-1. SCAD returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday (March 5) with a SELC Southeast Division contest against Georgia Southern University in Statesboro, Ga.

SCAD took control of the match early as they jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first quarter. Jordy McManus, who scored five goals for the Bees, Trey McKay and Matt Dean each scored a goal in the first three minutes to take a 3-0 lead. After a Travis Norvell goal for the Ospreys, SCAD reeled out three more goals – two by McManus – to end the first quarter. Shelton Polka, who scored twice, had the other goal for the Bees.

The Bees took a 7-1 lead with 2:12 remaining in the first half as Dean took advantage of North Florida being a man down to score a goal. SCAD pushed its lead out to 9-2 as Michael McQuaid and Dan Ogren scored in the opening minutes of the third quarter.

After Shelton Polka scored with 4:14 remaining in the third quarter, Justin Sicard, who won 8-of-11 face-offs against the Ospreys took the faceoff and scored a goal eight seconds later to give SCAD an 11-3 advantage.

Goalie Kreyton Polka recorded nine saves in the win for the Bees.
