SCAD wins sixth in a row with 16-5 win over Sailfish

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah College of Art and Design men's lacrosse team recorded a 16-5 Southeastern Lacrosse Conference Division II South Division victory over Palm Beach Atlantic University Saturday (March 20) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.

SCAD, which is ranked No. 12 in the MCLA, improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the SELC Division II South Division as the Bees captured their sixth consecutive win, tying a university record. The Bees previously won six in a row during the 2008 season. SCAD returns to action March 31 when they host Oberlin College in a 7 p.m. match at the SCAD Athletics Complex.

Jordy McManus led the SCAD offense with six goals while Shelton Polka added four goals and two assists. Derek Shurson also had multiple goals for the Bees with three while leading SCAD with six assists. Kreyton Polka, Evan Hart and Cody Hoerauf each tallied one goal. Trey McKay, Mike McQuaid and Darren Martin each contributed an assist.

Dan Comite led the team with 10 ground balls while McKay had eight and Hoerauf added five. Justin Sicard was 11-of-21 on face-offs and also had seven ground balls. Comite and Derek Superville led the defense with four takeaways each while Martin had three. Goalie Wade Winebrenner recorded 11 saves between the pipes for the Bees.
