HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Jesse Kane's goal 20 seconds into the third overtime gave Oberlin College an 11-10 victory over the 14th-ranked Savannah College of Art and Design men's lacrosse team Wednesday (March 25) evening at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The Bees fell to 3-10 and will return to action Saturday (March 28) with a 7 p.m. match in Statesboro, Ga., against Georgia Southern University.
SCAD had forced the extra periods when
Justin Sicard scored twice in the final 7:02 in regulation off assists from
Derek Shurson to tie the match at 10.
The Bees jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on first period goals by
Brandon Ussery and #A.J. Getz# before the Yeomen reeled off six unanswered goals to take a 6-2 lead after Alex Jacobs scored off an assist from Rob Bond with 5:38 remaining in the second quarter. However, SCAD responded with two goals by
Shelton Polka in the final four minutes of the first half to trail 6-4 at the intermission.
Shurson scored 27 seconds into the third quarter off a
John Healy assist before
Stewart Yost knotted the match at 6 with 8:33 left in the period. Two minutes later the Bees regained the lead when Polka converted a Shurson pass into a goal. The Yeomen scored two goals before Shurson leveled the match for SCAD at 8 with 6.9 seconds left in the third quarter.
