LANSING, Mich. – The SCAD men's bowling team competed at the Sixth-Annual NAIA Men's Bowling National Championship this week, battling to a top-four finish.
Prior to the start of the tournament, the NAIA announced this season's All-Americans. SCAD's
Landin Jordan was named to the NAIA All-American Second Team.
The tournament featured the debut of the high-states Mega Match format, where teams must claim two of three points – a traditional team game, a five0game Baker total pinfall set, and if necessary, a best of seven Baker match play in the winner's bracket. The elimination bracket featured best of seven Baker match play.
After receiving a bye in the opening round of match play, the No. 3 Bees faced No. 6 Marian University in round two. SCAD struggled to find its rhythm early, falling 2-0 and dropping into the elimination bracket.
Facing an early exit, the Bees responded with a gritty performance against No. 10 St. Xavier University. In a back-and-forth battle that went the distance, SCAD secured a 4-3 victory to advance to the third round.
The momentum carried into the quarterfinals, where the Bees faced No. 7 St. Francis. SCAD controlled the game, earning a 4-2 win to clinch a spot in the final four.
In the semifinal matchup against No. 2 Lawrence Tech, the Bees pushed the higher seed to the brink. Despite a late surge, SCAD fell 4-3 to end its championship pursuit.
The Bees continue their postseason run with a trip to Green Bay, Wisc. for the Intercollegiate Team Championship on April 15-18.
