SCAD Savannah Men's Bowling Secures SSAC Championship Win

SAVANNAH, Ga. – The SCAD men's bowling team  won their fourth consecutive Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday. Earning an automatic bid to the NAIA National Championship and securing their legacy as undefeated SSAC Champions since joining the conference in 2022.
 
TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The two-day tournament consisted of a double-elimination bracket. Each match started with five individual games and then four baker games, with the total pinfall of each determining a winner. If both teams were tied after the first two games, then a third tie-breaker in the form of best-of-five baker games determined the match winner.
 
Once a team drops a match, they will compete in a best-of-seven baker game match for a chance to continue in the tournament.
 
Each team competing was seeded based on RPI rankings heading into the tournament.

2: Milligan
3: Mobile
4: SCAD Atlanta
5: Stillman
6: Blue Mountain
 
MATCH PLAY: 
The men begun match play in the second round, receiving a by round due to their seeding. Their first match was against SCAD Atlanta where they won 2-0. Griffin Jordan had the highest pinfall of the match with 252. Savannah swept Atlanta in baker games with Savannah scoring 1120 across four games and Atlanta scoring 708.
 
The round two win pushed the Bees forward in the winner's bracket where they faced Milligan. With 220 Justin Bohn and Griffin Jordan tied for the highest pinfall from SCAD in the round. After four baker games SCAD secured their victory over Milligan 2-0.
 
In the final round SCAD faced Mobile. With Aiden Furukawa's pinfall of 225 the Bees won their individual game. The four baker games, pinfalls 801-722, secured a score of 2-0 for their final match, meaning SCAD's fourth consecutive SSAC Championship win.
 
 WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will be on the road to compete in USBC Sectionals in Smyrna, Tenn. on March 13th-15th.
