INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The SCAD men's bowling team made history on Sunday, winning the Tier 1 Hoosier Classic for the first time in program history, finishing first in the field of 78.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The two-day tournament consisted of five individual games, followed by 15 baker games. Total pinfall determined seeding, with the top eight advancing to match play.
INDIVIDUAL GAMES: At the conclusion of the five individual games, SCAD was in 11th place overall with a total pinfall of 5120. Mount Mercy University finished the individual games in first place with a total pinfall of 5584.
BAKER GAMES: After the first five baker games, SCAD moved up four spots to number seven with a total pinfall of 6169. Webber International University was in first with a total pinfall of 6577.
The Bees found themselves in ninth after 10 baker games with a total pinfall of 7144, while Mount Mercy was first with a total pinfall of 7583.
The final round of baker games saw SCAD move into eighth with a total pinfall of 8165, earning the Bees a spot in match play. Webber International finished in first with a total pinfall of 8709.
MATCH PLAY: The No. 8 SCAD team faced No. 1 Webber International in the first round, winning 2-1 to advance to the semifinals.
The No. 8 Bees won 2-0 over No. 4 Muskingum University to clinch a spot in the final.
No. 8 SCAD faced No. 2 Mount Mercy in the final, defeating the Mustangs 3-2.
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will return home to host the Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on Friday-Saturday, February 21-22.
