Women’s Soccer Names Four to Sun Conference First Team, Two to Second Team

TAMPA, Fla. – SCAD women's soccer's Mia Gomez, Ida Akesson, Lois Beer, and Saga Bryntesson have been named to the Sun Conference First Team, while Haidyn Jenkins and Emilia Irle have been named to the Second Team.
 
FIRST TEAM
 
Mia Gomez | Austin, Texas | Senior | Forward
 
Mia Gomez has earned her first Sun Conference All-Conference honor on the First Team as a forward. This season, the senior leads the Bees in goals (9), points (21), and shots on goal (34). She is tied for first in game-winning goals (2) and is tied for second on the team in assists (3). Gomez has started in all 17 games in which she has played this season.
 
Ida Akesson | Lund, Sweden | Senior | Midfielder
 
Ida Akesson is no stranger to Sun Conference All-Conference honors, as this marks her third-straight First-Team honor after being named to the Second Team as a freshman. The senior is tied for first in assists (4) so far this season and is third on the team in goals (5), placing her second in points (14).
 
Lois Beer | Swindon, England | Graduate | Defender
 
For the second-straight year, Lois Beer has been named to the Sun Conference First Team. The graduate student has started all 17 games this season and has played 1,410 of the possible 1,530 minutes, equaling 92 percent of the games played.
 
Saga Bryntesson | Arvika, Sweden | Sophomore | Goalkeeper
 
Sophomore goalie, Saga Bryntesson, has been named to the Sun Conference First Team for the second consecutive season. Compiling 10 shutouts this season, the sophomore has recorded 49 saves, facing 82 shots for a save percentage of .790. Bryntesson has allowed only 13 goals this season, for a goals against average of 0.800. In conference action, Bryntesson is second in shutouts (4/1) and fourth in save percentage (.852).
 
SECOND TEAM
 
Haidyn Jenkins | Marietta, Ga. | Freshman | Midfielder
 
Haidyn Jenkins has been named to the Sun Conference Second Team in her first collegiate season. The freshman is currently second on the team in goals (6) and third in points (13). Jenkins has scored one game-winning goal this season as she's started in all 17 games for the Bees.
 
Emilia Irle | Stockholm, Sweden | Freshman | Defender
 
Emilia Irle has been named to the Sun Conference Second Team in her first collegiate season. The freshman has been instrumental in SCAD's defense this season, starting in all 17 games, leading the team in minutes played with 1500.
 
TEAM STATS
 
Gomez, Akesson, and Jenkins have been a considerable part of the Bees' offense all season, leading SCAD to 35 goals, 2.06 goals per game, 275 shots, 147 on goal, for a shots-on-goal percentage of 0.535 as a team.
 
Beer and Irle have led SCAD's defense, only allowing 130 shots, 65 on goal, for a shot on goal percentage of .500. SCAD has held its opponents to only 47 corner kicks thus far this season. Along with Bryntesson, the Bees have allowed only 13 goals this season, for a 0.76 goals per game average, along with 10 shutouts.
 
The Bees will host Ave Maria University on Wednesday, November 5, at 4:00 p.m. at the SCAD Athletics Complex for a Sun Conference Quarterfinal.
