Men’s Bowling Wins Tier 1 Bowlero Southern, Women Finish in Second

MARIETTA, Ga. – The SCAD men's bowling team won the Tier 1 Bowlero Southern Classic on Sunday, while the women's team finished in second. The men's JV team finished in fourth.
 
TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The two-day tournament consisted of six individual games on Saturday and 20 baker games on Sunday. The winner was determined by total pinfall.
 
MEN'S RESULTS: At the conclusion of the individual games, SCAD was sitting in first place with a total pinfall of 6412, just shy of 300 pins ahead of Marian University, which had a total pinfall of 6131.
 
Aidan Furukawa finished second at the completion of the individual games with a total pinfall of 1403 for an average of 233.8, earning him a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Julian Salinas was also named to the All-Tournament Team, finishing in fifth place with a total pinfall of 1360 and an average of 226.7.
 
The Bees had a total pinfall of 4259 at the conclusion of the baker games for a two-day total of 10,671, placing them first in the 22-team field. The University of Pikeville finished in second with a total pinfall of 10,345.
 
WOMEN'S RESULTS: SCAD finished day one with a total pinfall of 5947, placing them second in the field of 16. The University of Pikeville placed first with a total pinfall of 6201 after day one.
 
Lara Kurt and Yumi Yuzuriha earned spots on the All-Tournament Team, finishing third and fourth, respectively. Kurt had a total pinfall of 1274 over the six games for an average of 212.3, while Yuzuriha finished in fourth with a total pinfall of 1268 for an average of 211.3.
 
Day two saw SCAD earn a total pinfall of 9985 to finish in second place. The University of Pikeville won the event with a total pinfall of 10,123.
 
MEN'S JV RESULTS: The men's bowling team fielded a JV team that finished fourth out of nine teams with a total pinfall of 9559 over the two days.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will return home to host the SCAD Collegiate Shootout on November 16-17.
