Sinead Byrne, are excited to announce the signing of Hailey Lander for the Fall of 2022.
According to Coach Gunn, "Hailey was a key member of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette's back line. She will enter SCAD with experience playing against some of the country's top Division I attackers. She brings speed, experience and an understanding of the game that will fit in perfectly with our current team. We are really excited to see what Hailey can accomplish in a SCAD jersey and can't wait to get started with her out on the pitch."
From Lantana, Texas, Defender Hailey Lander attended Guyer High School and played for both the Sting Soccer Club and FC Dallas ECNL Composite throughout high school. She competed for Guyer Girls Varsity (6A) from 2018-2021. She was a two-year captain and two-year team Defensive MVP (Jr and Sr).
Hailey was awarded All District Honorable mention in 2018-2019. In 2019-2020, she earned First Team All-District, All-District Co-Defensive MVP, All-Region Team, Top Drawer Soccer First-Team All-State selection. In 2020-2021, Hailey was named to the First Team All-District, Team Leadership Award and Four-year Academic All-District.
With Sting, Hailey helped the team to a pair of South-Central Regional titles and a second-place finish at the USYS National Championship.
Most recently Hailey spent her freshmen year competing at UL Lafayette playing as a defender in 17 matches with 13 career starts. She logged 1,154 minutes on pitch including five full games. Academically she was in the top 3% of her class at Guyer High School, National Honors Society Treasurer, and made the Presidents List at University of Louisiana at Lafayette (Fall 2021).
Hailey intends to major in Industrial Design and is supported by parents, Kassidy and John Lander, and Siblings: Makenzie Lander, Tatum Lander, Josie Lander.
When asked why she chose SCAD, Hailey said:
"The first time I stepped on campus, I was coming to visit my twin sister. Once I came in contact with the environment, resources, and culture, I could not ignore the pull I was feeling from this perfectly unique school. I chose to transfer to SCAD because SCAD gives me confidence that I will get the opportunity to pursue my dream career with support and creative freedom both academically and athletically."
