3/5/2020 11:13:00 AM

SAVANNAH, Ga. - SCAD League of Legends completes its second competitive season, finishing with a respectable 3-3 record in the increasingly competitive Southern Conference.

Led by Head Coach Robert Price, the SCAD League team was able win key regional matches against Universities such as College of Charleston, and Western Carolina University, while hanging tough against top level completion such as the University of Texas – Austin.

"The southern region has progressively gotten stronger and stronger as the years continued. My first year of playing collegiately in 2015 the competition was really consistent of a very small select number of colleges that dominated the region entirely. By 2020, there's dozens of universities fighting for top spots in nail biting series every weekend. The growth of the region shows in its ability to continue to bring forth strong and committed new teams every year, with SCAD right at the forefront of it." – Coach Price

Fielding many new faces on the roster, SCAD League was able to overcome many obstacles presented before them, and integrate new team members into the competitive roster that yielded fantastic results for those new student athletes. First year players Kolbe Pitts, Alex Wang, Lingyu Chen, and John Zhang were able to hit the ground running, and meshed well with returning veteran ADC Matthew Yang.

"Kolbe showed excellent performances in our matches with the ability to lead the team in communication and play making, making consistent teamfight engages that brought us multiple victories. His diversity in playstyle allows the team to be flexible in how we approach drafting compositions and playing the game. Matthew served as our ADC for the second year in a row and has seen considerable growth. Beginning last year playing another position, he entered into another role and has proven himself to be a strong carry for the team. Matthew consistently puts out the highest damage on the charts in our matches and has excellent synergy with his lane partner, Kolbe. Our new recruits, Alex and John, were brought in in January with minimal experience with the team and grew a lot as both teammates and players. Very driven by their love of the game, they were able to balance their lust for competition with the requirements and expectations of the varsity program and its players." – Coach Price

The future is looking bright for SCAD League of Legends, as SCAD Esport continues to be committed to being one of the strongest names in Collegiate Esports.

"I'm very excited about the future of the next season. We're looking to continue building the most competitive roster we can build and face off against the top universities in the country. The program has continued to build up the last two years of competition, and we strive to to prove that SCAD is not only a fierce opponent, but among the best universities to be hosting a collegiate esports program." – Coach Price
