Box Score 2 It was a perfect start to the Sun Conference season for SCAD women's soccer, with two shutout victories in three days.
In Friday evening's home opener against St. Thomas, SCAD freshman
Julia Corin opened her account with an
Annie Sullivan-assisted goal that proved decisive in a 1-0 victory. SCAD keeper
Ande Eich notched the shutout.
Working off a day's rest, SCAD returned to their home pitch to face Florida Memorial on a cloudy but very warm Sunday afternoon. Chances for both sides defined the first half.
Annie Sullivan finally cracked the game open with a great individual effort, beating two FMU defenders to rifle a shot into the upper 90 with 13 minutes left in the half. Theresa Stevens followed with a well-placed side-footer across the face of the goal to make it 2-0 SCAD.
Buoyed by a funky half-time performance by SCAD Drumline, the team delivered two more second-half goals. A turn-and-smash effort past a diving keeper notched
Emily Carroll a tally in the 55
th minute, before a fine left-footer by
Stephanie Guerra with just under 20 minutes remaining closed out the 4-0 win. Keeper
Ande Eich again registered the clean sheet.
On Thursday, September 29, SCAD women's soccer will host a conference contest against Warner University. Kick-off is at 7 p.m. at the SCAD Athletic Complex in Hardeeville, South Carolina. See you there!
