Women’s Soccer Opens Home Schedule with a Pair of Weekend Games

Savannah, Georgia – The SCAD women's open its 2016 home schedule with a pair of games this weekend. The Bees will host 15th-ranked Campbellsville Friday at 3 p.m. and then face Montreat Sunday at 1 p.m. This is the first ever meeting between both of these schools.

SCAD comes into the weekend with a 0-2 record after falling to Concordia and Mount Vernon Nazarene to start the season. The Bees have returned 12 players from last year's squad to go along with 14 new players. SCAD has been led by Ande Eich, Kelly McKay, and Meghan Grable. Eich has recorded 17 saves in the first two games, including a career-high nine saves against Mount Vernon Nazarene. McKay and Grable each netted a goal for the Bees. Newcomers Annie Sullivan and Hannah Amidon have already played big roles as well.

Campbellsville comes into today's game with a 1-0 record after defeating Truett-McConnell 3-1 Tuesday night. After a scoreless first half, the Tigers got goals from Lakin Walls, Taylor Beals, and Devon Burnside for the 3-1 win. Goalie Amanda Howard finished with two saves. The Tigers went 19-3 last year and advanced to the second round of the NAIA tournament before falling to Benedictine.

Montreat opens their schedule Friday, when they travel to Bluffton, SC to face USCB. The Cavaliers went 0-15-1 last season with their one tie coming against the University of the Cumberlands. Montreat has return their leading goal scorer from last year's squad, Alanna Castaneda. Goalie Jordan DeVaan played in six games and made 37 saves.
