Savannah, Georgia – The women's soccer team is set to host conference foe Warner in their Sun Conference home opener tomorrow, October 1, at 5 p.m. at the SCAD Athletic Complex.
The Bees enter the game 5-3-2 and 2-0 in conference play after defeating St. Thomas and Florida Memorial last weekend. SCAD opened its conference schedule upsetting 23rd-ranked St. Thomas on Zola Owsley game-winning goal in overtime. The Bees followed that up by defeating Florida Memorial 2-0, with Alyssa Rodemsky and Laerke Michaelsen each netting a goal. The Bees have recorded three straight shutouts for the first time since 2011 when SCAD had four straight games without allowing a goal.
Warner enters the game with a 2-2 record after defeating dropping back-to-back conference games against Keiser and Johnson and Wales last weekend. Leading the way for the Royals is Jamie Murray, Naybet Febo, and Sarah Bergkvist. Murray leads Warner with six goals, while Febo has dished out a team-high four assists. Bergkvist has made 22 saves in goal for the Royals.
The Bees have won the last three meetings between these two schools including a 4-0 win last year. In that game, Kelly McKay got the scoring started netting a goal in the 11th minute. SCAD added three second half goals, including one from Meadhbh Deeney for the 4-0 final.
