Box Score Thomasville, Georgia – The 19th-ranked SCAD women's soccer team overcame a two goal deficit but it wasn't enough as the Bees fell to Thomas Wednesday night at Remington Park. With the win the Night Hawks improve to 9-8 overall and 6-4 in conference play while the Bees fall to 12-4-2 and 9-1 in the Sun Conference.
Both teams came out strong with each team having several opportunities to score but neither could convert. In the 20th minute Sara Hall made a sliding save to keep the game scoreless. The Night Hawks scored back-to-back goals, within a six minute span, to take a 2-0 lead with nine minutes remaining in the first half. SCAD had a chance to cut the lead in the 41st minute as Laerke Michaelsen fired a shot from the left side but it hit the crossbar keeping the score the same. Less than a minute later Zola Owsley sent a corner kick into the box to Kelly McKay who headed it to Natalie Besl for the goal to cut the deficit to 2-1 at the break.
SCAD came out firing in the second half controlling the ball for majority of the half. In the 58th minute Michaelsen found Olivia Buechler for the goal to tie the game at 2-2. The Bees had a couple of chances to take the lead but Sara-Ann Hartley made three of her seven saves to game the score tied. In the 85th minute Adrianna Johnson scored off a free kick from 35 yards out to give Thomas the 3-2 lead.
SCAD finishes the regular season as co-Sun Conference Champions with Keiser. The Bees own the tiebreaker over Keiser to earn the top seed and host the conference tournament on November 13 and 14.
