Box Score Hardeeville, South Carolina – The 25th-ranked SCAD women's soccer team netted three second half goals en route to a 4-0 win over Ave Maria Saturday night at the SCAD Athletic Complex. The win extends the Bees win streak to nine games, which is the longest in program history breaking the record of eight straight set back in 2008.
SCAD (11-3-2; 8-0 TSC) came out strong controlling the ball the majority of the first half. The Bees got on the board in the 16th minute as Fiona Gorman send a pass up the end line to Meadhbh Deeney, who turned and netted a goal to give SCAD the 1-0 advantage. SCAD kept the pressure on but was unable to extend their lead before the break.
Seven minutes into the second half, Natalie Besl sent a pass to Deeney, who got behind the defense and beat the goalie for a goal to extend the Bees lead to 2-0. SCAD controlled the ball majority of the second half and outshot Ave Maria (5-8; 1-6 TSC) 18-1. SCAD extended its lead in the 78th minute as Meghan Grable connected with Reese Stevens for a goal. 30 seconds later Macy Jarvis headed a pass to Olivia Buechler who fired a shot from 40 yards out for a goal to give the Bees a 4-0 advantage. Buechler had a penalty kick in the 83rd minute, but Francesca Singleton made one of her 12 saves to keep the score 4-0.
Leading the way for the Bees was Deeney, who netted her fifth career multi-goal game. Gorman and Besl also tallied their first points of the season in the win.
Sara Hall made two saves and picked up her 21st career win.
The Bees return to action Thursday, October 22, when they host conference rival USCB at the SCAD Athletic Complex. Game time is scheduled for 7 p.m. Livestats will be available here.
