Box Score Hardeeville, South Carolina – The SCAD women's soccer scored two goals in the first six minutes en route to a 3-0 win over Johnson & Wales Sunday afternoon at the SCAD Athletic Complex. With the win the Bees improve to 9-3-2 and 6-0 in the Sun Conference, while the Wildcats fall to 6-7 and 3-2 in conference play.
SCAD jumped out to an early lead as Laerke Michaelsen crossed the ball to Janelle Morgan, in the penalty box, for a goal to give the Bees a 1-0 lead. Just over a minute later, Olivia Buechler ran a give and go with Michaelsen off a corner kick for a goal to extend the Bees lead to 2-0. The Bees controlled the ball majority of the first half and outshot the Wildcats 10-1 but was unable to extend their lead before the break.
The Bees strong performance continued in the second half. In the 48th minute, Meadhbh Deeney crossed the ball from the left side of the field to Michaelsen who put a low shot past the goalie to give SCAD a 3-0 advantage. Johnson & Wales best chance came in the 69th minute when Cassandra Boateng fired a shot towards the net but Ande Eich made one of her two saves to preserve the shutout and the 3-0 win.
Leading the way for the Bees was Michaelsen who tallied a goal and two assists. She has tallied eight points in the past two games.
SCAD's backline of Natalie Besl, Kayla Willis, Meghan Grable, and Thorhanna Omarsdottir limited Johnson & Wales to four shots in the game. Sara Hall and Eich combined for three saves and recorded their sixth shutout of the season.
The Bees return to action Thursday when they host conference foe Southeastern at 5 p.m. at the SCAD Athletic Complex. Livestats will be available here.
