Strong Second Half Leads Bees to 4-1 Win

Hardeeville, South Carolina – The SCAD women's soccer team scored three goals while Ande Eich made four saves in the second half as the Bees defeated Warner 4-1 Thursday night at the SCAD Athletic Complex. With the win the Bees improve to 6-3-2 and 3-0 in The Sun Conference, while the Royals falls to 2-3 and 0-3 in conference play.

Warner struck first as Naybet Febo sent the ball forward to Jamie Murray who scored a goal to give the Royals a 1-0 lead 15 minutes into the contest. SCAD responded 14 minutes later as Larke Michaelsen crossed the ball to Meadhbh Deeney, who netted the equalizer from inside the box. Olivia Buechler had a chance to give the Bees a lead before the half, but Sara Bergkivst made one of her ten saves to keep the score even at the break.

SCAD carried the momentum into the second half and controlled the ball for majority of the period. The Bees took the lead in the 61st minute as Alyssa Rodemsky grabbed the rebound off a Deeney shot and netted her eighth goal of the season. SCAD extended their lead four minutes later as Kelly McKay brought the ball up the left side and crossed it to Michaelsen for the goal to give the Bees a 3-1 advantage. SCAD's final goal came in the 86th minute as McKay won the ball off a Warner goal kick and sent it forward to Deeney, who put a lob shot over the goalie for the 4-1 final.

It was Deeney's second multi-goal game of the season, while McKay tallied two assists in a game for the first time since August 19, 2014.

Sara Hall and Eich both made four saves in 45 minutes of action.

SCAD return to action Sunday, October 4, when they travel to Babson Park, Florida to take on conference foe Webber. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
