SCAD Preps for Away Game after Loss to Charleston

8/25/2014 10:29:00 AM

Box Score

It was a defensive battle from the start. For most of last Friday night's home game, no team gained an advantage after 63 minutes of play.

Then, in the second period, the Charleston Southern University Buccaneers scored two quick goals within 31 seconds of each other, establishing a 2-0 lead. The Buccaneers added another score with roughly 15 minutes left in the game and the Lady Bees were left with little time to make up the deficit.

But our team did not walk away scoreless. Freshman Kelly McKay (undeclared) broke the goal drought with less than three minutes left in the game. She took an assist from junior Olivia Buechler (BFA, Fashion) to bring the final score to a 3-1.

SCAD's season record holds at 1-1 after an impressive shoutout victory against Middle Georgia State College last week.

The Lady Bees take to the road today for their first conference game against Southeastern University in sunny Auburndale, Florida, set for 5 p.m. Last year, SCAD dominated Southeastern when the Fire visited Savannah for Senior Day. SCAD won 6-1.

The Lady Bees will return home to play Westminster College from Salt Lake City, Utah, on Saturday, Aug. 30. That game is set to start at 7 p.m. Spend the weekend supporting your Savannah team at the SCAD Athletics Complex, located at 3650 Speedway Blvd., in Hardeeville, South Carolina.
