Box Score The SCAD women's soccer team is off to an amazing start to the 2014 season after a fantastic firs game..SCAD earned a 6-0 shutout over the Knights of Middle Georgia State College. The away game took place in Cochran, Georgia.
The impressive score was the combined effort of the entire SCAD team under
Rebecca Gunn, who is in her first year as head coach of women's soccer.
Ryanne Frazier (BFA., fashion marketing and management) scored the first goal on an assist from
Kelly McKay (undeclared). Thirty seconds later, that goal was quickly followed by an unassisted score by
Meadhbh Deeney (BFA., dramatic writing). Adding two more scores in the first period were
Olivia Buechler (BFA, fashion) and a second from McKay.
The Lady Bees also outshot the Knights 26 to four and doubled the saves by their opponent eight to four. Goalie duties were evenly split between
Sara Hall (BFA., fibers) and
Ande Eich (BFA., advertising).
The offensive prominence of Buechler was a boon for the team. She scored three of the six goals for the evening. Two of those came in the second period with one assist coming from
Janelle Morgan (BFA., fibers).
Congratulations to the Lady Bees on their impressive first victory and to Gunn on her first win as the new head coach for SCAD women's soccer.
