The two-time defending national champions SCAD Women continued to win as they ran their streak to 7 to open up the 2014 season. There were a significant number of highlights as the Bees defeated Sweet Briar College Vixens 16-10 at the SCAD Athletics Complex this afternoon.
Offensively, six Bees contributed in the 16 goals scored.
Charlotte Walters and
Jordan Cook led the team with 4 apiece.
Kayla Nelson had 3, while
Torii Clark and
Charlotte Cutts scored 2 each. The remaining goal was scored by
Joanna Ehatt. Seven different ladies contributed 8 assists in the offensive barrage of goals with Nelson contributing 2 and
Shaina Levin, Clark, C. Cutts, Ehatt,
Haley Fauvelle, and
Sophie Cutts combining for the remaining six.
Nelson had a very balanced attack in the SCAD victory. She scored 3 goals (21 overall this season), assisted on 2 others to increase her team lead in the assist category to 11, was second on the team today in shots with 5 (41 overall), and had 6 ground balls to bring her team leading total to 23 in only 6 games played (one SCAD victory was by forfeit).
Goalkeeper
Jenny Danko garnered 7 more saves to add to her team leading total of 56.
Highlights were prevalent, but the strength of this team is that they are spread across the team. If you are looking for action then the ladies do not disappoint. Come out and watch SCAD as they take on West Virginia Wesleyan University on Saturday at the SCAD Athletics Complex. Action begins at 12 noon. Go Bees!
