No. 3 Women’s Lacrosse Rallies Past No. 7 Life, Clinches Undefeated Regular Season Title

MARIETTA, Ga. — The No. 3 SCAD Savannah women's lacrosse team clinched the regular-season title in perfect fashion on Saturday afternoon, completing an undefeated conference run with a 12-7 comeback victory over No. 7 Life University.

RECORDS: The Bees conclude the regular season at 11-2 (6-0 SUN), while the Running Eagles drop to 7-8 (3-3 SUN).

HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD faced early adversity in this top-ten matchup, as Life came out firing on its home turf to take a 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The Bees found their rhythm in the second quarter, completely shifting the momentum of the game. SCAD locked in defensively, holding the Running Eagles to just one goal in the period. Meanwhile, the offense netted three goals to tie the game at 5-5 heading into the halftime break.

SCAD took total control in the second half. The defensive unit was spectacular, limiting the potent Life attack to just two goals over the final 30 minutes. Offensively, the Bees pulled ahead with three goals in the third quarter and slammed the door with four more in the fourth, securing the 12-7 victory to cap off an unblemished conference slate.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • McKinsey Brown paced the SCAD offense with five goals on seven shots.
  • Ellen Benintendi stuffed the stat sheet with four points (2G, 2A), while also collecting four ground balls, three caused turnovers, and two draw controls.
  • Annise Berkeley also turned in a four-point performance, notching two goals and two assists to go along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
  • Maddy Hahn added a goal and an assist, and was a force defensively with three caused turnovers.
  • Karley Holland and Kellen Berkeley each found the back of the net once for the Bees.
  • The defensive effort was highlighted by Riley O'Keefe, who led the team with an impressive four caused turnovers. Kinsey Shoemaker also came up huge, adding a team-high four ground balls, two caused turnovers, and one assist.
  • Goalkeepers Chloe Zundel and Lorna Fowles split time in the cage. Zundel played the first half and recorded two saves, while Fowles stepped up in the second half, making four saves and allowing just two goals to anchor the comeback.
WHAT'S NEXT? With the regular season title secured, the Bees will now prepare to carry their undefeated conference momentum into the Sun Conference Tournament.
