Box Score The Lady Bees played an almost perfect game against the Johnson and Wales University Wildcats. For what seemed like the whole evening, the ladies spent most time on the Wildcats end of the pitch. A sterling defense once again was on display from Rebecca Gunn's disciplined team. They took an early two-goal lead in the first period thanks to scoring leader Olivia Buechler (11 season goals) and teammate Kelly McKay (10 season goals). They never looked back.
Outshooting the Wildcats 26-2, the Bees never seemed to be in danger. Every time the Wildcats crossed midfield the defense was there taking the ball away and heading in the direction of the Wildcats goalkeeper. SCAD goalkeeper Sara Hall had a fairly easy game of it as she only faced one shot on goal all evening. She came up with her seventh shutout of the year and was part of a defense that has given up an infinitesimal 21 goals in the 19 games they have played.
Alex Weinberg added another assist to her team-leading eight assists on the season. And Gabrielle Garbe came through with providing an assist to Buechler to give SCAD all the offense they needed to secure their 13th win of the year against only six losses.
Congratulations to the Lady Bees! They will now face Northwood University on Saturday, Nov. 15. This match means a lot because it will decide which team claims The Sun Conference Championship title.
The finals will be hosted by Northwood because they were the higher seeded coming into the conference tournament.
Keep up the good work women! And bring home a conference crown next weekend
