W. Soccer Match Assists in Domestic Violence Awareness

10/16/2013 3:00:00 PM

The SCAD Women's match against Ave Maria at 7 p.m. on October 24 carries with it the purpose to promote awareness of domestic violence.  SCAD Women's Soccer has partnered with Safe Shelter to bring awareness to domestic violence.  It is an issue that destroys hearts, hopes and homes. There are people who care and are ready to help victims and their families escape this vicious cycle.  If you. or someone you know, is being abused, break the silence.  Talk to a friend, someone, anyone, co-worker or someone you trust and let him/her know what is going on.

Safe Shelter and the Safe Shelter Outreach Program provide services to victims of domestic violence, including emergency shelter, victim advocacy, case management services, information on victim's rights and a 24-hour crisis line.  All services are free and confidential.

SCAD and women's soccer are promoting this awareness program against the backdrop of soccer because they feel the cause is so important.  The match on October 24 will feature free raffle tickets for anyone dressed in purple.  Gifts include SCAD swag bags, free coupons for Lenny's subs and other items from local merchants.  There will be free popcorn for all in attendance and volunteers will be on-site at the match to answer any questions.

Join those who support the cause and be there on October 24 at 7 p.m. to promote a night set aside to bring support to those impacted by domestic violence.  SCAD cares.  And so should you.
