Box Score
It was a near perfect game as the Lady Bees put together a strong offence, but provided an even tougher defense to frustrate the Warner University Royals 7-0 in another conference victory for SCAD. The win moves SCAD to 6-3 overall, and 2-0 in The Sun Conference standings.
Shelby Dieckamp scored two goals and assisted on another. She was matched by
Alexandra Weinberg who also scored two goals. The remainder of the scoring was shared among
Eliza Balen,
Meadhbh Deeney, and
Nikki Wittak, who scored a goal apiece.
Hannah Papa assisted on Weinberg's final score of the match to bring to a close SCAD's fifth consecutive victory.
As much as the offense was prolific, the defense was even more noteworthy. For most of the first half the Bees kept the Royals on their side of the pitch. The SCAD defense allowed only two shots the entire first half, and if that were not good enough, they even bettered their defense in the second period by allowing no shots at all. It does not get much better than this.
Three SCAD goalies,
Ciara Thomas,
Sara Hall, and
McKenzie Nelson, had a fairly relaxing evening in that they had no saves. That was not because they were overwhelmed, but rather it was a result of the sterling Bees' defense that prevented the Royals from making any shots on goal.
SCAD's next opponent will be Webber International on Sunday, 9/30, when the Bees put their 5-game win streak and 2-0 conference record on the line at 1 pm at the SCAD Sports Complex. Come out and support your Lady Bees. They are something to watch!!
