W. Soccer Wins First Season Match vs. Faulkner Univ.

The SCAD Women's Soccer Team posted its first win of the 2012 season in tournament play against Faulkner University in Montgomery, Alabama.  Bees junior, Nikki Wittak, scored the winning goal at the 55:00 minute mark in the second period on an assist by sophomore, Alexandra Weinberg

The Bees pounded the Eagles' goal fourteen times in the first period, but only accounted for one score by Meadhbh Deeney.  Deeney, a first year player for SCAD, was assisted on the score by junior, Nikki Capizzo.  The goal at the 38:00 minute mark in the period was able to tie the match at 1-1.  Faulkner had scored its own goal two minutes into the match.

SCAD goalie Sara Hall turned in a fine game.  After the initial goal, Hall was able to save 3 SOG among the 12 total shots taken by the Eagles.  Faulkner was unable to mount any momentum as the Bees were constantly of the offense.  SCAD accumulated 22 shots compared to 10 for Faulkner.

The Bees are now 1-2 on the season.  Their next and final match in the tournament is against the host team, Auburn University Montgomery at 1 p.m. in Montgomery on 9/2.   They then travel to Mobile, Alabama to play the University of Mobile on 9/6 and Spring Hill College on 9/8.
