Box Score
The women's soccer team sits alone atop the North Division of The Sun Conference standings with a 4-0 record. By beating the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales Friday at the SCAD Sports Complex, the Bees kept alive its 7-game winning streak and moving overall to 8-3.
The outcome was never in doubt as the Lady Bees piled on the goals in the first period.
Nikki Wittak,
Ryanne Frazier,
Katelyn LeRoux, and
Alex Proehl each contributed a goal, while
Meadhbh Deeney added two to make the score 6-0 at the break.
Shelby Dieckamp and LeRoux had two assists apiece in the very offensive first period. It was another one of the Bees' fine performances as the balanced attack and team defense kept the Wildcats on its end of the pitch for most of the evening.
Sara Hall upped her goalkeeper record to 4-1 as Johnson & Wales was only able to garner three shots on goal for the entire match. Twenty-one Lady Bees saw action in this match as Coach Andy Williamson substituted freely as the game unfolded. By the end of the second period
Nikki Wittak (her 2nd goal of the match),
Rachel Walker, and Proehl (her 2
nd goal of the match) added scores to bring the final result of 9-0.
A very big conference battle will take place Sunday, October 7, as the Bees play host to the South Division leader, Northwood University. The Seahawks currently are 5-0 in their division and 9-3 overall. Both teams will be putting a 7-game win streak on the line. It does not get any better than this. Come out and support your Bees as they seek to win their eighth match in a row. Game time begins at 1:00 pm.
