Box Score
SCAD could not get their offense going in the first period of a conference match against the Southeastern University Fire. It was the Fire (6-6; 3-4) who scored two early goals in the first period to take a 2-0 on the Bees (9-4; 5-1).
The Bees came out in the second period with a “fire” of its own. They outshot Southeaster 12 to 3 in the period, but it was not until the 66:05 mark that
Shelby Dieckamp was able to break the scoreless streak for the Bees. It was Dieckamp's eighth goal of the year to tie
Nikki Wittak for the team lead.
It did not look good for the Bees as they headed into the final four minutes of the match down 2-1. But
Lisa Singleton gave the Bees a tie game when she was able to get her first goal of the season at the 85:39 mark. The remaining three and a half minutes of the match produced no further scoring so the competition went into the first of two overtimes.
Shots on goal were plentiful in the two overtimes. The Fire goalie, Karleigh Smoak, had a total of three saves, while SCAD's
Ciara Thomas had two to preserve the tie. SCAD's record moved to 9-4-1; 5-1-1, while Southeastern moved to 6-6-1; 3-4-1.
SCAD has two more matches left in their regular season. The final two matches are on the road against conference opponents. Next up is Embry-Riddle on 10/19 to be followed by a match against Thomas University on 10/21.
