HARDEEVILLE, S.C. – Three different SCAD Savannah women's soccer players scored as the Bees recorded a 3-0 The Sun Conference shutout over Florida Memorial University Sunday (Oct. 3) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The Bees improved to 7-3-2 overall and to 2-1-1 in the league while the Lions fell to 3-7-0 and to 1-2-0. SCAD returns to competition when the Bees host No. 13 Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University in a 6 p.m. conference contest Wednesday (Oct. 6) at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
SCAD took a 1-0 lead on
Nikki Capizzo's goal in the ninth minute off a corner kick from
Lauren O'Malley. The Bees added some insurance at the 58:34 mark on
Kelsey Hizelberger's second goal of the season. SCAD's final goal came with 28 seconds remaining on
Nikki Wittak's second score of 2010.
It was the fifth shutout of the season for the Bees and the third of the year for SCAD goalkeeper
Ciara Thomas, who notched six saves between the pipes.
