NORTH MIAMI, Fla. – Seven different players scored as the SCAD Savannah women's soccer team shut out Johnson & Wales (Fla.) University 7-0 in a The Sun Conference match Sunday (Oct. 17) afternoon.
The Bees improved to 8-4-3 overall and to 3-2-2 in the conference while the Wildcats fell to 1-12-0 and 0-6-0. SCAD will return to action Thursday (Oct. 21) with a 7 p.m. league contest against Ave Maria University at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
SCAD, which outshot Johnson & Wales 41-0, took a 2-0 lead with two goals –
Meike Petri and
Cydney Parkes - in the opening five minutes.
Kelsey Hizelberger's goal in the 13th minute gave the Bees a 3-0 lead at the half.
The Bees added goals from
Amanda Barj,
Nina Gonzalez,
Stephanie Foster and
Logann Rogers in the second half.
SCAD goalkeeper
Sara Collins recorded her second shutout while the Bees notched their sixth clean sheet of 2010. Elizabeth Haley stopped 16 shots for the Wildcats.
