WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Northwood (Fla.) University used an early second-half goal to edge SCAD Savannah 1-0 in a The Sun Conference women's soccer match Friday (Oct. 15) afternoon.

The 25th-ranked Seahawks improved to 12-3-0 overall and to 7-0-0 in the conference while the Bees fell to 7-4-3 and to 2-2-2. SCAD faces Johnson & Wales (Fla.) University in a 1 p.m. league match Sunday (Oct. 17) in North Miami, Fla.

Northwood found the goal in the second minute of the second half when Amber England netted a ball from the left side off a Helen Lynskey touch.

NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week Matilda Ojaniemi had her fourth consecutive shutout in as many matches, picking up three saves, and two of them were match-saving slides late in the second half. SCAD's Sara Collins played superb defense, allowing only one goal while making 10 saves.
