HARDEEVILLE, S.C. - Melissa Feuerriegel's hat trick helped the Savannah College of Art and Design women's soccer team to a 6-1 The Sun Conference victory over Warner University Sunday (Sept. 27) afternoon at the SCAD Athletics Complex.
The Bees improved to 3-5-0 overall and to 1-1-0 in the conference as SCAD continued its dominance over the Royals. The Bees have won all 10 meetings against Warner as SCAD has outscored the Royals 56-6. The Royals fell to 3-5-0 and 0-2-0. SCAD returns to action Friday (Oct. 2) with a 6 p.m. league match against St. Thomas (Fla.) University in Miami.
SCAD wasted little time as Lauren O'Malley scored the first of her two goals. O'Malley, who has scored five goals, gave the Bees a 1-0 lead at the 2:10 mark off an
Amanda Barj assist. Tara Fadenrecht helped the Royals tied the match at 1 as SCAD goalkeeper
Sara Collins couldn't hold on the ball at the 7:24 mark.
The Bees took control of the match as they rattled off three goals in a five-minute stretch to open a 4-1 win. Barj gave the Bees the lead for good off a cross from
Gabriella Levandowski at the 11:49 mark. Feuerriegel scored the next two goals in a span of 61 seconds for the Bees.
Feuerriegel, who has scored five goals this season, scored her final goal just five minutes into the second half before O'Malley tallied the final score for the Bees.
