MIAMI - Five different players scored a goal as the Savannah College of Art and Design women's soccer team recorded a 5-0 The Sun Conference victory over Florida Memorial University Sunday (Oct. 4) afternoon.
The Bees won their third consecutive match as they improved to 5-5-0 overall and to 3-1-0 in the conference while the Lions fell to 3-5-1 and 0-2-1. SCAD will travel to Daytona Beach, Fla., for a 6 p.m. match Wednesday (Oct. 7) against Embry-Riddle (Fla.) University.
Melissa Feuerriegel scored her seventh goal in the last three matches to give the Bees a 1-0 lead in the 10th minute off an assist from
Amanda Barj, who got in the scoring column herself in the 34th minute. Lauren O'Malley gave SCAD, which outshot the Lions 27-8, a 3-0 lead on a penalty kick in the 65th minute while
Gabriella Levandowski and
Katie Putnam each scored unassisted goals for the Bees to close out the scoring.
Goalkeepers
Sara Collins and
Kim Mergner combined on the first shutout of the season for the Bees as they stopped four shots.
