TAMPA, Fla. — The No. 3-ranked SCAD Savannah women's lacrosse team made a resounding statement as the Sun Conference announced its 2026 postseason honors. The Bees secured eight All-Conference selections and swept three of the major superlative awards following an undefeated conference slate.
Head Coach
Tyler Yelken was named the
Sun Conference Coach of the Year after leading the Bees to an 11-2 overall record in his debut season. Under his leadership, SCAD posted a perfect 6-0 mark in Sun Conference play to secure the No. 1 seed in the upcoming conference tournament. The Bees' dominance was statistical as well as tactical, as the team boasted the conference's highest-scoring offense (110 goals) and led the league in ground balls (137) and caused turnovers (104).
Junior midfielder
Ellen Benintendi headlined the individual honors as the
Sun Conference Player of the Year, in addition to earning First Team All-Conference honors. Benintendi led the conference in both goals and total points while ranking second in draw controls. Her efficiency was on full display during conference play, where she notched 25 goals and eight assists (33 points) with a staggering 82.5% of her shots finding the target. She also contributed 29 draw controls, 11 ground balls, and nine caused turnovers.
McKinsey Brown was tabbed the
Sun Conference Offensive Player of the Year and a First Team All-Conference attacker. Brown proved to be one of the most lethal finishers in the south, ranking third in the Sun in goals and points and sixth in assists. During the conference season, she tallied 22 goals and nine assists (31 points) with a 77.8% shots-on-goal percentage, while adding 10 ground balls and nine caused turnovers.
Joining them on the
All-Sun Conference First Team are midfielder
Annise Berkeley and defender
Mollie Geiger. Berkeley was the league's premier facilitator, leading the conference in assists. In conference action, she recorded 22 points (6G, 16A) and an elite 91.7% shots-on-goal percentage. Geiger served as the anchor of the Bees' defensive front, ranking third in the conference in caused turnovers (14) and sixth in ground balls (17), while also contributing four points on the offensive end.
The Bees also placed four standouts on the
All-Sun Conference Second Team. Attack
Karley Holland proved to be a constant scoring threat, recording 16 points (13G, 3A) on a 69.0% shots-on-goal percentage alongside nine caused turnovers. Midfielder
Maddie Krohn was a true transition specialist who ranked third in the conference with 28 draw controls while adding 10 points and nine ground balls. On the defensive end,
Maddy Hahn made her mark as a versatile full-field player who notched nine ground balls, seven caused turnovers, and 10 draw controls, while remaining perfect on offense by going 3-for-3 on free-position shots. Finally, defender
Riley O'Keefe stood out as a defensive pillar, recording seven caused turnovers and nine ground balls while maintaining a 1.000 shots-on-goal percentage to chip in four goals.
The top-seeded Bees will return to action this week as they look to parlay their regular-season success into a Sun Conference Tournament title.
