SAVANNAH, Ga. – SCAD Athletics proudly highlights the outstanding contributions of Colena Lord, who has served as Sports Information Director at SCAD Savannah for the past 10 years with vision, creativity, and tireless dedication.
Over the past year, Lord has elevated the Bees' presence in the local media and national platforms, bringing a new level unprecedented visibility to SCAD's athletic programs in the Savannah area. Her direct leadership was central in securing extensive coverage for the 2024 NAIA Women's Soccer National Championship and the equestrian team's standout performances, showcasing the success and depth of SCAD's artist-athletes.
Lord's impact has been especially evident in the digital space. Under her direction and guidance for the 2024-2025 season, SCAD Athletics' social media channels experienced remarkable growth, including a 135 percent increase in top post shares and a 110 percent rise in posts surpassing 1,000 impressions. She contributed more than 200 stories to the athletics website and launched a bi-weekly column spotlighting SCAD's artist-athletes, further connecting fans with the unique stories that define the Bees.
Her commitment to excellence extends beyond written and digital storytelling. Lord has played a pivotal role in hosting high-profile events such as The Sun Conference Women's Lacrosse Championship and the 2024 and 2025 NAIA Men's and Women's Lacrosse National Championships, ensuring that SCAD is represented with professionalism on the national stage.
In recognition of her leadership, Lord was honored as the Sun Conference Sports Information Director of the Year. She also continues to give back to the profession, serving on committees dedicated to advancing the field of sports communication and providing opportunities for the next generation of leaders.
