TOPEKA, Kan. – The SCAD women's bowling team competed at the NAIA BCA Invite I and II on Friday-Sunday and were named Champions for both the NAIA BCA Invite I and II.
TOURNAMENT FORMAT: The NAIA BCA Invite I consisted of five individual team games on Friday. The NAIA BCA Invite II took place on Saturday and Sunday, with day one featuring 25 baker games, and the total pinfall from Friday and Saturday determined the seeding. The top eight teams moved on to the best-of-seven match play on Sunday.
NAIA BCA INVITE I: The Bees took first place on Friday with a total pinfall of 4853. Ottawa University (Kan.) finished in second with a total pinfall of 4696.
Daniela Gonzalez was SCAD's top finisher, placing fourth overall with a five-game pinfall of 1004 for an average of 200.8. By placing in the top five, Gonzalez earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team.
NAIA BCA INVITE II: After 25 baker games, the Bees had a total pinfall of 4671, which, combined with their day one score of 4853, scored a total pinfall of 9524, placing them second overall to advance to match-play.
In the first round of match-play, No. 2 SCAD faced No. 8 St. Xavier and won 4-0 to advance to the second round.
The next round featured the No. 2 Bees versus No. 3 William Penn. SCAD won 4-1, sending them into the final.
In the final round, No. 2 SCAD faced No. 9 McPherson and won 4-3 to be named the overall champion, sweeping both invites.
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees will remain on the road for the Tier 1 Collegiate Match Games on November 22-23.
