STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. – The SCAD men's bowling team finished the 2023 NAIA National Championships on March 24.
TOUNAMENT FORMAT: The National Championship is a double-elimination match play with 24 baker games determining the seeding.
BAKER PLAY: The Bees finished in a solid third after the conclusion of the Baker games with a total pinfall of 5149. SCAD was 251 pins behind the first-place-seeded Warriors of Indiana Tech.
MATCH PLAY: SCAD earned a bye in the first round and faced No. 6 seeded St. Xavier and lost 3-2 (231-217, 204-201, 177-184, 206-233, 223-230). With this loss, the Bees dropped into the loser's bracket and faced No. 12 William Penn in round three.
Against the Statesmen, SCAD won in three (257-214, 235-214, 265-197) to move on to round four.
Round four saw the No. 3 Bees competing against No. 8 Pikeville, losing in four (208-216, 223-275, 202-157, 245-203), ending their 2023 NAIA Championship run.
ALL-AMERICAN'S: Prior to the start of the tournament the NAIA announced the All-American selections and the Bees named two to the teams.
Julian Salinas (Houston, Texas / User Experience (UX) Design) was been named a NAIA Men's Bowling First-Team All-American while
Tyrell Ingalls (Grand Island, N.Y. / Sound Design) earned NAIA All-American Honorable Mention status.
