No. 1 Women’s Lacrosse Holds Off Second-Half Comeback in Win

Box Score QUICK STORY: Eight Bees combined for 21 goals in the No. 1 SCAD Savannah's women's lacrosse team's tight 21-17 win over the visiting NCAA Division II Wingate University Bulldogs.
 
RECORDS: The Bees are now 9-1 overall this season while the Bulldogs are at 10-3.
 
DID YOU KNOW? This is the ninth game this season in which SCAD has scored 13 or more points in a game. This is the fifth game in which the Bees have scored 20 or more points.
 
SPREAD THE WEALTH: SCAD out-shot Wingate 40-32 and managed to hold off a second half comeback from the Bulldogs.
 
Eight Bees combined to score the Bees 21 goals. Sydney Knego led with six goals and two assists for eight points. Drew Dowgiallo tallied four goals while Joanna Ehatt and Shannon Flaherty had three goals each.

Knego nabbed a game-high shot count at 10 while Dowgiallo and Vaccaro had six shots each. 

Taylor Vaccaro added two goals with Kirsten Carr, Emma Devereaux and Torii Clark contributing one a piece.
 
DEFENSE: Goalies Maggie Lortz and Olivia Vieira split time in the cage with Lortz nabbing nine saves while Vieira had two.

OTHER STATS: The Bees totaled 18 ground balls to the Bulldogs 11 with Tori Alexander picking up a team-high three while five other artist-athletes grabbed two and five more grabbed one.
 
Flaherty totaled a team-high seven draw controls and Knego added three.
 
WHAT'S NEXT? The Bees remain at home on Saturday, April 14 to host North Greenville on Senior Day at 2:00 p.m.
