HARDEEVILLE, S.C. — The No. 3 SCAD Savannah women's lacrosse team put on a clinical performance Friday evening, routing Sun Conference opponent Warner University 25-2.
SCAD had a number of milestones in the wide margined victory. Head Coach
Tyler Yelken nabbed his 100
th win at the helm of the Bees.
Ellen Benintendi earned her 100
th career goal and her 100
th career draw control.
Annise Berkeley notched her 100
th career goal.
RECORDS: The Bees improve to 7-2 (2-0 SUN) on the season, while the Royals drop to 5-8 (0-2 SUN).
HOW IT HAPPENED: SCAD set the tone from the opening draw, exploding for 12 goals in the first quarter while holding the Royals to just one.
Kellen Berkeley ignited the offense early, with a hat trick in the opening ten minutes.
The relentless pressure continued in the second quarter as the Bees' defense completely shut out the Royals. Offensively, SCAD added six more goals, including scores from
Ellen Benintendi and
Karley Holland, to take a commanding 18-1 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, the Bees utilized their depth while maintaining total control of the game. SCAD added four goals in the third period and capped off the night with three more in the final frame. The defensive unit remained disciplined throughout, allowing only one goal in the second half to secure the dominant conference win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Kellen Berkeley and McKinsey Brown led the Bees' scoring barrage with a game-high six points each, both on four goals and two assists.
- Maddie Krohn notched five points with two goals and three assists while also leading the draw control effort with six.
- Ellen Benintendi tallied five points on four goals and a single assist while having the second most draw controls with five.
- Karley Holland contributed four goals and an assist for a five-point night.
- Maddy Hahn and Paige Frias rounded out the multigoal scorers as both of them found the back of the net twice.
- Lorna Fowles earned the win in the cage, making two saves in just under 28 minutes of action before Marleigh Burritt came in relief playing just over 32 minutes.
- The defensive effort was superb with 16 caused turnovers as a team spearheaded by Mollie Geiger with four. The Bees also only allowed four shots for the Royals.
