Box Score QUICK STORY: The SCAD Savannah men's soccer team won 4-3 over visiting Ave Maria Saturday afternoon, on Senior Day.
RECORDS: The Bees improve to 6-7, 4-3 TSC while the Gyrenes fall to 3-9-3, 1-4-1 TSC.
REGULATION: Just over 14 minutes into the first half, Ave Maria scores to take a 1-0 lead.
Fourteen minutes later,
Arthur Bello Veiga scores on a penalty kick to tie the game at one. Unfortunately, the Gyrenes score again in the 35
th minute to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.
The Bees score the first goal of the second half to tie the game at two when
Cian Lynch hits the back of the net off a pass from Veiga.
Ave Maria takes the lead for the third time at the 67:03 mark but SCAD ansers with a goal of their own in the 81
st minute by Veiga to ultimately send the game into overtime.
LAST CHANCE: SCAD's last chance to prevent overtime came at the 85:55 mark when a bullet by Lynch missed wide.
Ave Maria's last chance came in the 89
th minute but it went wide as well.
OVERTIME: Both teams managed one shot in overtime with SCAD's ending on a goal for the 4-3 win.
A free-position kick – 30 yards out and to the right of the goal – from
Alfie Raw put the ball at the feet of
Alejandro Rodriguez Gil who was just to the left of the goalie box. Gil settled the ball and looked to be about to launch one into the back of the net when he passed to Lynch coming in on the right who scored easily into the right side of the net to clinch the win for the Bees.
BOX SCORE: Veiga led the Bees with two goals, one assist, three shots on goal and five total shots.
Lynch totaled seven shots, four on goal and two goals.
Gil and
Tom Barry tallied two shots, one on goal, each with Gil picking up and assist as well. Raw contributed the third assist for the Bees.
Goalie
Joe Parker nabbed five saves in his 93:13 minutes of work.
