Box Score Cochran, Georgia – In an evenly contested game the SCAD men's soccer team came up just short as the Bees fell to Middle Georgia State 1-0 Monday night. With the win the Knights improve to 1-0, while the Bees fall to 0-2.
SCAD came out strong taking three of the first four shots over the course of the first 15 minutes, but two saves by the Knight's goalie kept the game scoreless. The Bees defense, led by goalie Fernando Zeledon also started the game strong. Zeledon made four first half saves to keep the game tied 0-0 at the break.
The game remained scoreless until the 58th minute when Romel Jordan netted an unassisted goal to give Middle Georgia a 1-0 lead. SCAD responded with three straight shots on goal, but couldn't convert. The Bees best opportunity came in the 67th minute when Gonzalo Gelso fired a shot towards the net, but Petur Mar Bernhoft made the save for the 1-0 final.
Both teams finished the game with ten shots and five shots on goal. SCAD held a 5-2 advantage in corner kicks. Gelso led the Bees with three shots, while Willian Santana and Jordan Chambers each tallied two shots.
SCAD will return to the pitch Friday, August 26, when the host St. Andrews at 7 p.m. at the SCAD Athletic Complex. This game is part of the SCAD Invite, which will also feature Webber playing Tennessee Wesleyan at 5 p.m. Live stats will be available for both games here.
