Box Score SAVANNAH, GA– SCAD faced Thomas University on Tuesday night at the SCAD Athletic Complex, with The Sun Conference men's soccer title up for grabs. With St. Thomas losing to Florida Memorial, the victor would clinch the Sun Conference Championship.
SCAD controlled the tempo for much of the first half despite giving up a soft goal on a corner kick. The Bees failing to clear their box and Jarrod Ingram sticking his boot on the loose ball to score for Thomas.
SCAD's offense created several shots and at least six corners in the first 45 minutes. Numerous attempts on goal were cleared off the line by the Night Hawks.
The second half witnessed a more open game as the Bees pushed for the equalizer. Fernando Zeledon produced several great saves as the Knights counter-attacked. With only minutes to go, Tom Rouine's flicked header glanced off the post and out of bounds. The Bees mounted frenzied attempts to equalize with a series of corners and free kicks in the closing moments but to no avail.
With the 1-0 win, Thomas University lifted the title and locked up the No. 1 seed in The Sun Conference Tournament.
The Bees concluded their regular season with a 8-8-1 (6-3 conference) record. SCAD tied for third place in the conference with South Eastern and Keiser. The tiebreaker placed SCAD as third seed.
