Box Score Miramar, Florida – The SCAD men's soccer team rallied late but came up short as the Bees dropped its conference matchup to 18th-ranked Florida Memorial 2-1 Sunday afternoon at Vizcaya Park. With the win the Lions improve to 6-4 overall and 1-1 in the Sun Conference while the Bees fall to 4-5-1 and 0-2 in conference play.
It was a highly contested game right from the start with both teams recording shots on goal but neither could convert as the game remained scoreless at the half. Fernando Zeledon made four of his six saves in the first half.
Florida Memorial struck first in the 84th minute as Andres Pratto netted a goal to give the Lions a 1-0 lead. Less than two minutes later, the Lions netted a goal to extend their lead to 2-0. The Bees rallied as Alejandro Rodrigez netted an unassisted goal in the 88th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1. SCAD was unable to score the equalizer giving Florida Memorial the 2-1 win.
SCAD return to action Thursday, October 1, when they host conference foe Warner. Game time is set for 5 p.m. at the SCAD Athletic Complex. Livestats for that game will be available here.
