Box Score Hardeeville, South Carolina – The 21st-ranked SCAD men's soccer team rallied but couldn't overcome an early deficit as the Bees fell to Tennessee Wesleyan 2-1 Thursday night at the SCAD Athletic Complex. With the win the Bulldogs improve to 1-0, while the Bees fall to 2-2.
Tennessee Wesleyan struck first as Sammy Mawuko scored an unassisted goal four minutes into the contest to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. Four minutes later, Ben Wilks found Nelson De La Pava in the middle of the box for a goal to extend Tennessee Wesleyan lead to 2-0. The game went back and forth but neither team was able to capitalize giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead into the break.
It was a different story in the second half as SCAD came out firing. At the 56 minute mark Naim El-Harriti took a shot from 45 yards out that hit off the goalie's hands and bounced into the net to cut the deficit to 2-1. SCAD had several chances for the equalizer but couldn't convert for the 2-1 final. The Bees outshot the Bulldogs 13-4 in the second half.
SCAD returns to action Saturday night when they host 15th-ranked St. Andrews at the SCAD Athletic Complex. Prior to that game, Tennessee Wesleyan will square off with Florida Memorial at 5 p.m.
