Box Score Wingate, N.C. – The SCAD women's lacrosse team had four players netted multiple goals while Jenny Danko made eight saves to help the Bees defeat Wingate 15-9 Saturday afternoon at Irwin Belk Stadium.  With the win the Bees improve to 2-0, while the Bulldogs drop to 1-1 overall.

Wingate struck first as Erin Murphy scored an unassisted goal five minutes into the contest. SCAD responded a minute later as Taylor Vaccaro converted a free position shot to even the score 1-1.  After Wingate scored two of the next three goals, Vaccaro netted a free position shot to tie the game at 3-3 with 19:56 remaining in the first half.

Minutes later Sophie Cutts connected with Jordan Cook to put the Bees back on top.  The two teams traded goals before Jaclyn Chiesa evened the score at 5-5 with 7:57 remaining in the first half.  The score remained tied until the 3:57 mark when Shannon Flaherty found Rebekah Kirkley for a goal to put the Bees on top 6-5.  Flaherty then converted a free position shot to extend SCAD's lead to 7-5 at the break.

The second half started just like the first with the Bulldogs scoring first to cut the lead to 7-6.  Kayla Nelson scored back-to-back goals for the Bees to extend the lead to 9-6 with 23:13 remaining.  After a Wingate goal Charlotte Cutts found Kirsten Carr in front of the net for a goal to give SCAD a 10-7 advantage.  The Bulldogs cut the lead to 10-8, before the Bees netted three straight goals to extend the lead to 13-8 halfway through the second half.  SCAD scored two of the final three goals for the 15-9 final.

Vaccaro, Cook, and Nelson each netted a hat-tricks, while Torii Clark scored a pair of goals.  Flaherty finished the game with a team-high five draw controls.

SCAD will return to action February 22 when they travel to Franklin Springs, GA to face Lindewood-Belleville. Game time is set for 11 a.m.
