Box Score Hardeeville, South Carolina – The SCAD men's soccer team scored two goals in the 72nd and 79th minute to give the Bees a 3-1 conference win over Warner Thursday night at the SCAD Athletic Complex. With the win the Bees improve to 5-5-1 and 1-2 in The Sun Conference, while the Royals fall to 0-6-1 and 0-3 in conference play.
SCAD came out strong outshooting the Royals 8-2 in the first half but were unable to connect for a goal as the game remaining scoreless at halftime.
The Bees struck first in the 59th minute as Francesc Casas headed a Naim El-Harriti corner kick into the back of the net to give SCAD a 1-0 lead. Warner's Jonathan Freiria netted a goal in the 67th minute to tie the game 1-1. SCAD responded five minutes later as Ali Bassir made a move around the defender and crossed the ball to Johan Renli for a goal to give the Bees a 2-1 advantage. SCAD extended their lead in the 79th minute as Alejandro Rodrigez found El-Harriti in front of the net for the goal to give SCAD the 3-1 win.
El-Harriti led the Bees with a goal and an assist, while Casas netted his first goal of the season. Bassir assist in the 72nd minute was his first career collegiate point.
Frenando Zeledon made three saves in the win.
SCAD return to action Sunday, October 4, when they travel to Babson Park, Florida to take on conference foe Webber. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m.
