Box Score Hardeeville, South Carolina – The SCAD men's soccer team had a strong defensive effort but it wasn't enough as the Bees fell 2-0 to Johnson & Wales Sunday afternoon. With the win the Wildcats improve to 5-5-2 and 4-1 in the Sun Conference, while the Bees fall to 5-7-2 and 1-4-1 in conference play.
It was a back and forth game right from the start with both teams having several opportunities to strike first. The game remained scoreless until the 34th minute when Juan Perez sent a free kick into the box and connected with Valentine Salinas for a goal to give Johnson & Wales a 1-0 lead.
SCAD picked up the offensive attack in the second half putting five shots on frame, but Joaquin Orlando made five out his six saves in the second half to preserve the shutout. The Wildcats extended its lead in the 87th minute when Travis Langhorne got behind the defense and put a shot into the top corner of the net.
Frenando Zeledon made four saves in the game, while Jordan Trinci-Lyne led the Bees with four shots.
The Bees return to action Thursday when they host conference foe Southeastern at 7 p.m. at the SCAD Athletic Complex. Livestats will be available here.
