M. Soccer Suffers Second Season Loss to William Carey

Box Score

Defensively the SCAD Bees have proved to be tenacious. The problem in the early going of the 2014 season has been that the offense has fallen short of expectations. The Men's Soccer team has only scored one goal in the first two games of the 2014 regular season. In the final game of the William Carey Invitational in Hattiesburg, Mississippi the Bees fell to an 0-2 overall record with a loss to the tournament's host team William Carey by a score of 1-0.

The loss marks a second loss by the Bees by 1 goal. The Bees fell to Northwestern, Ohio in the tournament two days ago by a score of 2-1.  SCAD has proven to be a team that has been exceptional on the defensive end. SCAD's offensive side has the potential to be equally exception, but thus far has been neutralized by their competitors.

Of the 13 shots attempted by the Bees in the William Carey match only three shots were on goal. The SCAD defense was strong in that only five shots by the Crusaders were on goal, but one of the shots provided them with a 1-0 lead at the 30:42 mark in the first period and that proved to be the difference in the game. Only three shots on goal for the game for SCAD gave evidence that the Bees had difficulty in penetrating the Crusader defense.

SCAD returns home on Sept. 6 to play Middle Georgia State College at the SCAD Athletics Complex, 3650 Speedway Blvd., Hardeeville, South Carolina at 7 p.m.
