Box Score The SCAD Men's Soccer team just keeps on ticking and kicking. Adding to their undefeated conference standing, the men took down opponent Embry-Riddle University on Wednesday evening in Daytona Beach, Florida. The score was 1-0 and marks SCAD's fourth shutout in a row (seventh out of the last eight games).
The win also extends SCAD's first place lead in the Sun Conference by six points over second place, securing for themselves at least a tie for The Sun Conference title. Congratulations to the Men's Team for their season thus far. SCAD now stands with a conference record of 8-0-1 and an overall record of 9-2-2 for the 2014-2015 season.
Once again, sterling defense and timely scoring were keys to another SCAD victory. The game was a close one with few shots on goal (SCAD recorded five to Embry-Riddle's four). One of those shots hit the back of the net for SCAD, thanks again to powerhouse scorer
Jordan Trinci-Lyne. This time, he struck his winning shot just five minutes into the second period for his team. This was the eighth goal of the season for the Cheshire, England native.
The competition was a hard fought victory for the Bees. Although the total number of shots favored Embry-Riddle 12-9, Goalie
Fernando Zeledon was able to save the four on-goal shots and record his seventh shutout of the season.
Congratulations to Coach
Tom Melville, Assistant Coach
Danny Sonner and the men who worked hard to earn another victory and, at minimum, a tie for The Sun Conference title.
There are still a couple of games until a key home match against second place Thomas University on Wednesday, Oct. 29, that will decide the outright conference regular season championship (whether it be a tie or a championship).
The SCAD team will go up against Georgia Gwinnett College at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, also a home game. Home games take place at the SCAD Athletics Complex, located at 3650 Speedway Blvd. in Hardeeville, South Carolina, across the Talmadge Bridge.
Come out and cheer your Men's Soccer team as they fight towards a very possible outright regular season championship!
