Box Score How many times can it be done? Time and time again, it would seem.
Jordan Trinci-Lyne, the SCAD Men's Soccer team scoring superstar, has provided four game-winning goals for four impressive victories. SCAD has won by a score of 1-0 against opponents Ave Maria, Warner, Webber and - now - Florida Memorial. The list of defeated opponents continues to grow thanks to the powerhouse from Cheshire, England.
Trinci-Lyne waited until there was a single minute left in the first period to strike. Teammate Naim El-Harriti gave him a perfect feed and Trinci-Lyne guided it over the shoulder of the Florida Memorial goalie and into the net. And that was all the SCAD men needed to win their fifth game in a row.
The second period had the Florida Memorial Lions on the prowl, pushing for the SCAD side of the pitch. But they found stiff defense and tough play awaiting them, much of it in front of the net in the form of SCAD goalkeeper
Fernando Zeledon.
Zeledon only had one save in the second period, which meant the defense of SCAD rose to the occasion and thwarted any opportunity to tie the game, leading to a shutout victory for a team that battles on every front. The Bees now stand at 5-0-1 in first place in The Sun Conference.
Of SCAD's 10 games, only two teams have scored two goals in a game. The remaining eight have resulted in four shutouts and four single scores. That's not just good defense. That's a steel wall in the form of the mighty Bees.
Next up for the men is a home game, returning to SCAD as road victors. The game is Friday, Oct. 17. The challenger is Northwood University. The game is set for 7 p.m. and will succeed the Women's Soccer team match against Warner University at 5 p.m.
It will be another free pizza night for all the fans that attend. Come out to both games, support both teams and prepare to see some excellent soccer!
