Box Score

The 2013 SCAD Soccer season opened with a 4-3 overtime victory against William Carey in Hattiesburg, Mississippi this afternoon.  The Bees' John McAleenan scored the winning goal on an assist from Jordan Trinci-Lyne 2:12 minutes into the first overtime to secure the victory for SCAD.

The match ended in regulation all tied at 3-3.  Goalie Josh Brown had his work cut out for him as the Crusaders of William Carey took 9 shots on goal compared to 7 for the Bees.  Brown was able to save 6 of those shots to force an overtime.  Scoring was spread among four Bees with freshman Naim El-Harrati scoring the first goal of the season on an assist by McAleenan.  The Crusaders were able to take their only lead of the match 21 minutes in the first half and held a 2-1 lead at intermission.

But the Bees were able to take the lead 3-2 in the second half on consecutive goals by Trinci-Lyne and Alex Jamroz on an assist by Victor Makali.  After a match tying goal by William Carey with 11 minutes left in the contest no one was able to score for the remainder of regulation play..

It did not take long for the Bees to carry the day in overtime play.  Trinci-Lyne gave McAleenan a feed for the winning goal at the 2:12 mark in overtime.  It was a hard fought victory for the Bees as they get a day to rest before their next match on the same pitch against Bellevue College on Sunday.  Play begins at 3 pm.

Go Bees!
